Artist Statement:

Images that interest me seem to all have a strong sense of history!  I value that history because it can only be found by the passing of time and experience.  I see that history in the peeling paint, rusty metal, and distress of a surface.  It could be the decomposition of a structure, aging of a vehicle, or a ghost sign on a facade.  These are the images, surfaces and places that I want to paint and celebrate.

Artist Bio:

David Tyndall’s paintings capture the wear and tear of time and experience. From the rusty fender of an old farm truck to the patina of peeling paint on the weathered side of an old barn, Tyndall seeks out the details that provide the viewer with a glimpse into the past. Growing up on the East coast, he was surrounded by the history that he seeks for his paintings. Trained as a technical illustrator and later working in advertising as a product illustrator, detail and precision became important in his work as a painter. An opportunity to produce photorealistic paintings for international artist, Jeff Koons brought Tyndall to New York City. From there, David spent many hours exploring the streets of Soho and lower Manhattan painting old storefronts and vintage, turn-of-the century cast iron buildings, complimenting his farm scenes with a similar depth of history. Wonderful architectural details and years of graffiti and posters combine in excitingly complicated paintings! He has always found and enjoyed the beauty in the details!
